COMING BACK HOME
Alistair is driving, with his usual frown and his eyes on the road. I’m on the passenger seat. We are quiet, just the radio is making my favourite noise: a Pink Floyd single. Honestly, it’s Alistair’s, too.
I’m just looking at the mirror, hoping to see Liz. She’s driving behind us. She’s my new mother, or that’s I’ve decided… She’s visited for two years, being my teacher and my defense attorney. Thanks to her, I could go out. I was a good convict. My excellent behavior was rewarded.
- Bunny, I could buy our old house… Mom’s house.

- Don’t thank me. It’s obvious we couldn’t live with our uncles. I’m eighteen and it makes me available to deal with you.
